Bejeweled | Shiny Object Syndrome

I’ve never been an accessory girl… that is until I received my engagement ring and then I started to take notice of jewels, diamonds and other shiny objects which isn’t exactly helpful when it comes to the sheer fact that my attention span is that of a two year old. However, I can share with you some very pretty baubles… be prepared to be mesmerized!

Save the Fluff | All Hail Couture

While bridal fluff doesn’t erase the pain of puppy-loss; it does create for an excellent mental escape.

Ever since I was little I enjoyed pretty packages. The bigger the bow the better, the shinier the gift-wrap the more I was smitten and obviously the larger the box the more I made the Cheshire cat look like he was frowning. But the thing that could send me over the edge was the gift-card or the lack there of. A good card usually consisted of me flipping the front over before I even read the inside to see that little word “Hallmark”… yes, I was a complete card snob. However, I have mellowed my ways a tid-bit and am now in love with the art of a good card… particularly wedding invites.

And on that note… cue the fluff

As much as I would love to say that my words are sharper than a laser if that even makes any sense… truly doubt it does… laser cut invitations have completely left me a fan | Amazing creation by Australian Invitation Designer Saint Gertrude Design

When I became engaged the first thing I did was head on over to the nearest book store and steal all the Bridal magazines. Yes, most pages were filled to the brim with ads which is a completely different rant but I did discover my first designer crush within those glossy new pages. Her name was Ceci Johnson and everything she touched seriously left me with a major dose of envy which is the exact reason I would love for her to design our invitations for basically every major life event… I’m that serious – This is what you consider invitation heaven via Ceci New York

I Love My Dober-Angel

Sebastian “No Can Do” aka The Seabass Monkey

03/11/04 – 05/03/12

“I was never a dog. I was a Doberman sent here for a season to love you for a lifetime and to protect you for always. Now I am your Angel for an eternity because of the amazing love you endlessly gave.”

You were an amazing ambassador to the breed. Everyone who met you fell in love with you in an instant. You were charismatic and charming; a complete character and a prince to all the ladies who adored you. You were kind and gentle although I know you had your constant need to obsessively annoy your Doberman sister, Mai-Mai.  What I thought was a love/hate relationship between the two of you; you loved her, she hated you, turned out to be quite the bond. Can you believe you actually calmed that sassy butt of hers down? Yes, my handsome baby boy, you did the unthinkable.

After eight short years, you never learned to “shake” and you honestly looked as if I was insane for asking such a request. My bed was never large enough for you as you insisted on using my bum as your pillow, I truly do miss that. You were my shadow and I adored every moment of that even if some days I wondered if you were plotting ways to trip me as you were always underfoot.  I loved how you poked me with your nose when you felt it was the correct time for a pet; as it turns out that was every minute, every hour.

I loved taking you for walks by the marina, I always felt safe with you even though you wouldn’t kill a fly. I know you never understood “hide and go seek”, you almost looked as if it was a cruel joke with me disappearing behind doors and such. I know I played an insane amount of that game with your dober-sister but you would just stand there and whine at the door when I would hide in the pantry; you always ratted me out but I loved you, my little tattle-tale.  And for your information, that was the best place to hide during one of those exhausting games as I could stuff my face while I played; ahhh the fine art of multi-tasking.

While my bum gets cold at night and I no longer hear your whines, I can still feel your love for me. If I said I missed you it would be a complete understatement as my thoughts are always of you and my heart has never been full of so much love. Every tear I have shed has been completely worth it for the love that you gave me in return all of these years.

Your love will live always in my heart,

Your Mommy, Your Shadow

PS – For those that sent the thoughtful emails, thank-you so much. Your words were truly sweet and much adored ♥

I Love Sebastian

It’s been a few days since my last post; and while I am known to have wanderlust, I did not abandon chasing all things fabulous for my blog; but my heart  has been elsewhere.

…Eight years ago this May a certain puppy kissed his way into my life. He was the stubbornest thing I had ever laid my eyes on; yet his eyes could melt your heart. Instead of using my mad negotiating skills to adopt all the pretty fur-babies, I had to decide between the two puppies that were using me as their personal jungle-gym, and so I asked “Which one wants to be mine forever?”; my little guy kissed my face instantaneously, and he’s been my constant shadow ever since.

He has been sick all his life; and through that I have learned the practice of unfailing patience, the meaning of endless love, the need for answers to cures and to never accept less than all because of his presence in my life… while the last couple of days have been an emotional roller coaster, today I learn how to be brave and pray for a very wonderful animal.

Dear Sebastian:

We have a lot of walks to go on; and while your mommy loves to chase all things fabulous, I know you have a need to chase the not-so-fabulous neighborhood cats.  There are naps we need to take together and covers that you need to steal. There are a thousand more thunderstorms for you to howl at and a million more nights of sleeping under the bed. There are dogs you must annoy and treats you must beg for. While your rudeness wasn’t always appreciated, it is very much missed; and I am eagerly waiting for your spunk to return because, after all, you are my dog. I have ears that need a few good licks a day, and you need an insane amount of belly rubs every hour, my handsome boy. There are cameras that I need to stalk you with as you’re just too gorgeous for words… but most of all,  we have many more years together, okay?

Love Faithfully,

Your Mommy, Your Shadow

PS – We need a photo like this because you’re every bit worth it, my Seabass Monkey

Real Wedding | Nellie + Chetley

I simply love weddings. I love hearing about the couple and their story to the aisle. I love the emotion that day brings and how photos effortlessly capture a moment in time. I love how a wedding dress transports a bride into another world, where only her and her Mr reside… plus their 550  guests. Yes my lovelies, this amazing wedding had an astounding 550 guests and it takes the sentiment of being surrounded by love to a completely different level. From the brides impeccable style, who just happened to don a St Pucci gown down the aisle, to the decor and the cake that anyone would love to call their own; Couture Wedding Studios did a fantastic job of capturing all the details, couture and love.

”I was an absolute nervous wreck on the wedding day. I think because I had been waiting for that day for so long, but we had a wonderful day. There were about 15 women getting their hair and makeup done at my parents home, it is exactly how I imagined my wedding day playing out.”

”The best moment of the entire day was hearing Chetley say his vows to me it was magical.”

THE BRIDES ADVICE:
“The day absolutely flew by, I wish that I would have relaxed and not been nervous. I was so nervous about the actual ceremony for some reason. My advice to other brides is to relax and soak in every moment of the wedding day, also to plan so that you are able to enjoy the week leading up to your wedding. Enjoy the time with your family and bridal party, the event is meant to be a celebration, not a strict procedure that everyone just goes through the motions. I was fortunate to do this with my family and bridal party. “

… and if that wasn’t enough, the fabulous husband and wife team of Platinum Digital Video sent us a trailer of Nellie + Chetley’s Wedding… hankie most definitely not included

Style the Aisle | Ines Di Santo

…can you tell that I love fashion? But it’s only because it’s just so easy with the glamourly-addicted creations of designer Ines Di Santo. Their Spring 2012 collection is when I did my double-take and found one of the few contenders that I just might don down the aisle to the Mr.

little style tribute to the past…

Today you will be blessed with a sickening sweet amount of couture, I sincerely hope you are up for this challenge. The Bridal gods have dictated the styles for Bridal Land Spring 2013 and myself, being a bride marrying next summer, am very happy to note that perhaps my dream dress lies within one of these designers collections.

Style The Aisle | Marchesa

The two most important things to me besides the Mr is the dress and the photography. Yes, I do love my bridal fluff and can get lost in all the details but the flowers will die unless you enjoy artificiality. The band will eventually go home unless there is a clause in your contract that states you can kidnap them and have them play in your living room for the next 50 years. Your wedding cake will be devoured and the food at your reception will disappear as fast as a bag of chips at a weight-watchers convention.  But your wedding gown can be yours for a lifetime and that is exactly why I want a classic dress that stands the test of time; somehow Marchesa appears to know what it is that I’m looking for ever before I muster a single word… it’s as if couture lives inside my head

…and that gorgeous gown on the top right  is heavenly
